Amazon Unveils New Interactive Warehouse Robot for Enhanced Worker Collaboration

Amazon is taking significant steps in warehouse automation with the introduction of an upgraded version of its Proteus robot. This new model is designed to facilitate communication between human workers and the robot, allowing employees to assign tasks using natural language rather than complex software commands. This advancement aims to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining a human touch in the warehouse environment.

According to The Verge, the new Proteus robot will be able to navigate a broader area within warehouses, performing tasks such as moving containers and assisting employees throughout the fulfillment process. Amazon has emphasized that the introduction of this robot is intended to support its workforce rather than replace it, with plans to deploy the new system in Europe in early 2027 as part of its ongoing robotics roadmap.
