AMD is expanding its innovative 3D V-Cache technology beyond gaming-focused processors into the commercial workstation market with the new Ryzen PRO 9000 series. This development marks a significant shift for professionals in fields like simulation, rendering, and real-time visualization who can now access the same advanced caching technology that has made AMD chips popular among gamers.
According to The Verge, AMD has officially included its 3D V-Cache tech in workstation processors for the first time with the refreshed Ryzen PRO 9000 series. Built on AMD's Zen 5 architecture, these chips feature 6 to 16 cores and 12 to 32 threads, supporting up to 256GB of ECC DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0. The company states that only select models will include the 3D V-Cache functionality, which is designed for complex, data-intensive workloads. The new processors will begin rolling out in the second half of 2026, with the Lenovo ThinkStation P4 expected to launch in Q3 2026.
The integration of 3D V-Cache into workstation processors represents AMD's effort to bridge the gap between gaming and professional computing performance. For more information, visit the original article.
