Meta is set to revolutionize how users experience content on its platforms by utilizing data from their activities on external websites. Starting in July, users may notice a shift in their feeds as Meta incorporates insights from online purchases, gaming activities, and other interactions outside its platforms to tailor content. This approach aims to create a more personalized experience across its services, including Facebook and Instagram.
According to The Verge, Meta has clarified that while it will leverage existing data shared by businesses, it is not collecting new information. For instance, if a user purchases camping equipment online, they may see related content in their feeds. The update will roll out globally, although certain regions, including the EU and UK, will be excluded at launch. Emil Vazquez, a spokesperson for Meta, noted that this initiative builds upon the company's previous practices of using in-app activity to customize user experiences.
